Qui una foto del braccio - sorry, del posteriore, dovevo provare a restringere:
Nella sezione “Linn club” del WAM forum tempo fa ho rivolto al progettista le seguenti domande:
@SUPATRAC
as you can easily image many of us here use the Linn Sondek as turntable. Speaking of me, I'm a Sondek/Keel/ EkosSE guy with some spare parts for a potential second Sondek; so, would you mind explain a couple of questions about your arm?
1) Has the Supatrac Blackbird the same geometry of Linn arms?
2) Can the Blackbird be mounted using a Linn cut armboard?
3) Besides the Linn Ekos SE/Supatrac Blackbird £2800 price difference, are you confident about a comparison between them?
Just in case the the 1) 2) 3) answers were positive, last but not least one:
4) is it possible the mounting of the Supratac arm on the Keel for Linn arm or are you going to design it? [As you probably know, the Keel for Linn arm has the Linn arm collar integrated to the sub chassis].
Thanks in advance for your reply and congratulations for your design.
Ed ecco la risposta:
The answers to questions (1), (2), (3) and (4) are yes, yes, yes and yes.
I own an Ekos 2 and too many turntables to put it on, but I could not afford several of it or the other arms which interested me (e.g. Kuzma 4point 9). I therefore set out to produce an arm which surpassed those in performance. The first prototype, to my ear, easily exceeded the performance of my Ekos 2 in direct comparison on the same deck with the same cartridge.
Since I have a Sondek and an Ekos which I also used on Garrard 301 and Technics 1210, I designed my arm to be a drop in replacement for an Ekos. It fits into and engages with the Linn arm collar like an Ekos. It has Ekos geometry - 229mm stylus-to-pivot and 24° offset. It has a third hole for Troika/Arkiv/Kandid mounting. It has a male DIN socket at the bottom of the pillar so you can plug Urika or T-cable straight in. You can literally unplug the DIN-plug, loosen the pillar-clamp, drop in the Blackbird (Keel or no Keel) and start playing. And it's just as easy to switch back. The weight is also similar to Ekos, so suspension does not need adjustment. It fits inside the LP12 lid while playing, although you may need to fold down the string finger-lift if you choose that over the more traditional rigid one.
There is one caveat though: I think it is possible that you may fall out of love with your Ekos. Mine has seen no action for six months now.
