Dirac Live Community:
Last week, we launched our new Dirac Live for a number of existing AVR manufacturers, namely Arcam, AudioControl, Lexicon, NAD and StormAudio. Others will soon follow.
We’ve since received some questions about the launch of the stand-alone version of Dirac Live, asking why we didn’t also launch this product at the same time. The reasons are many, some technical in nature while others business-driven.
The stand-alone version you all know-and-love will be replaced by one that runs on a VST/AU host that we’re calling Dirac Audio Processor. Though we’ve made significant progress with its development, we ultimately had to choose between its completion and the further development/ completion of the front-end product. Since the front-end product benefits all, including those that will use the Dirac Audio Processor in the future, this is where we prioritized.
Furthermore, given that the front-end product can run with everything – AVRs from OEMs, processors, and Dirac Audio Processor – we made the decision to release it even though the Dirac Audio Processor is not yet ready.
A few people have also noted that there are a number of OEMs that are not yet ready to support the new Dirac Live. This is, of course, true; however, we decided not to wait for them as well.
With this in mind, we thank you for your patience and understanding as we complete the development of the Dirac Audio Processor and subsequently the stand-alone version of Dirac Live. We have an update regarding release date not before February 2019.
As a research-driven, engineering-focused company, we’re fully committed to only introducing new products that deliver meaningful and substantial value to the market. Though development of such products often takes considerable time, know that our best has yet to come.
Thanks, all.
